Introduction
Thank you for signing up as a partner of Ella's Wool. It means a lot to us.
We really want you to get the most out of this partnership, and we are rooting for you to succeed – not least because your success is our success.
That's why we've put together this page, with resources we hope can be of help to you. You can also find more help and information in your partner dashboard at ellaswool.com/partners.
Your URL
When you sign up as a partner, you are given a unique link back to Ella's Wool.
It is important that you use that link, uniquely associated with you, whenever you can, as it makes it much easier for us to credit you with the traffic or any sales made.
Unfortunately, the link may not be particularly memorable. The shortest version of it looks something like this http://ellaswool.com?ref=1.
There are (at least) three ways to make the URL more memorable.
1. Ask us to create a pretty link for you
Just ask us, and we will create a "pretty" link for you. We will use our short domain name, ellasw.co, and your customized link will look something like this: http://ellasw.co/prettyname.
2. Create your own shortened link
Using a service like Bitly, TinyURL or Bit.do you can create your own short URL, and customize the last part of the address to make it easy to remember.
3. Create a redirect from your own website (slightly advanced)
If you have many affiliate links and many merchants, to keep track of, this may be the way to go. You can create a redirect so that the address https://yoursite.com/ellaswool sends people to ellaswool.com.
If your website is on Wordpress, there are plugins that make this easy, such as Redirection and Pretty Links, but there should be a way to do it no matter what system your website runs on: Squarespace, Shopify, Wix (Premium), etc.
Remember: FTC regulations
FTC requires that you clearly disclose that you will receive a percentage of sales. If you are not comfortable with that, but still would like to send parents our way, you can link directly to our website to waive your referral fee.
Link to specific pages
Your standard tracking link will just send people to the front page of Ella's Wool, ellaswool.com.
However, you'll often want to send people to a specific product or blog post, rather than just the front page.
If you know how, you can simply append your referral code (e.g. ?ref=1) to any web address like so: https://ellaswool.com/collections/tubes/?ref=1
However, if you want to be sure you're not doing anything wrong, there's a Link Generator available in your partner dashboard.
Discount codes
On request, we may give you a unique discount code, associated only with you, and sales made with this discount code will generate a commission for you.
However, we may also send you special offers that are valid for a limited time or only for certain products. If you use these generic campaign discounts, however, they are not linked to you in the same way, and you will have to make sure people use your link when they come to our site in order for you to get proper credit.
If you want to create a promotion outside of our scheduled campaigns, feel free to suggest it and request a special discount code.
Some ideas
Add a link to Ella's Wool on your website. We provide some buttons and banners for you to use if you prefer.
Write a blog post. It doesn't have to be about Ella's Wool or our products specifically. Our mission is to help parents dress their kids well when it's cold outside and to teach them about the miracles of wool. Ella's Wool is just the natural continuation of that.
Ask us for a guest post to your blog or website. If we can agree on a good format and topic, and we believe your blog is a good medium for us, then we'd be happy to contribute.
Share our graphics with your audience on social media. We have a popular infographic that usually gets a lot of engagement, and we are in the process of creating more shareable graphics.
Link to our blog posts from your own writings, on social media, or in your newsletter. Just remember to include your tracking code in the link to the blog post.
You can even repost our blog posts on your own blog, as long as you include a canonical link back to the original. (Read more about canonical links here.) Of course, you should replace any internal links with links containing your unique referral code, so that you get credit for any traffic.
Your ideas
Many of the best ideas are the ones we haven't heard before.
If you have a good idea for something you'd like to do with us, don't hesitate to reach out to us with your pitch – and let us know what you would need from us. Check out the Requests section below for tips on what information might be good to include in your pitch.
If we like the idea and can justify the investment of time and money, we'd be happy to help out and participate.
Request an interview
Whether you write it up or have your own podcast, Ella's Wool's founder, Becca, will gladly talk about wool, dressing kids, Ella's Wool, entrepreneurship and "momtrepreneurship", parenting in Norway vs. the US, and any other topics she feels she has some knowledge about.
The requests section below applies to interviews too, so please read through it, and include any information you think might be relevant.
Samples, Promotions & Giveaways
Every season we give out a limited number of samples of Ella's Wool's products for testing or review by partners and ambassadors, or for inclusion in photo shoots. If you would like to be considered, please send us an email.
We also regularly participate in and donate prizes to promotions, giveaways, and contests. We do, however, have a somewhat higher bar for giving away products for giveaways, than for to reviewers and photographers.
If you would like to request free or discounted products from us for something like this, please read the requests section below and send us an email.
Requests
When you request something from us, whether a sample for testing, a prize for a giveaway, a guest post for your blog, an interview, or anything else, please include enough information that we can properly evaluate the request.
Relevant information would typically be:
- The type of story you are creating, and what you would need for it. Examples of story types that might require a sample are tests, reviews, photo spreads, comparisons, unboxings. (For other story types, like "how to" blog posts, quick news items, "the story of …" etc. you may find it difficult to make the case for why you would need a free sample.)
- What products you are requesting, including size and color.
- The medium you see this being distributed in.
- Example media are video, audio (radio or podcast), blog post, photo shoot, etc.
- A description of and (if possible) link to your channel.
- This could be the website/blog, YouTube channel, podcast, Instagram account, etc. where you plan on distributing your story.
- For offline channels, such as a print magazine or an event, please include images, links to a website, or something else that can help.
- A brief description of the size and type of your audience.
- The type could, for example, be parents, hikers, journalists, a general audience, or some summary of the demographics.
- The size could be a reference to website visitors, social media followers, mailing list subscribers, print readership or event attendance. The easier it is for us to verify your audience size, the better.
- Please specify how much of your audience you believe is in the US and Canada.
- Any other information you think we may find helpful.
Send your request to ella@ellaswool.com.
Ads
If you know how to buy ad space or other traffic inexpensively and arbitrage that into referral fees for yourself, that's great.
However, there are some terms we ask that you do not buy/bid on (e.g. in Google Ads, Bing Ads) without first getting our permission, so that we do not have to compete against ourselves. Those terms are…
- "Ella's Wool", "ellaswool.com" and all variants and derivatives
- "Wool Tubes", "Ella's Tubes" and variants and derivatives
There's more about this in our terms and conditions, available in your partner dashboard. We may add more words and terms to this list later. If so, we will notify you by email.
Banners & Graphics
Our infographic on how to dress kids in the cold always gets lots of engagement.
We have also created other graphics you can use on your website. Find them here.
Photos
All of our photos are free to use, as long as you credit the photographer and mention Ella's Wool, as well as provide a link where it's possible and reasonable.
You can download photos of our products on our website and you can also find many gorgeous pictures of our products on our Instagram account.
Please note that many of the pictures are taken by wonderful and generous photographers who deserve their own photo credit in addition to any mention of Ella's Wool.
If you need any additional photos or illustrations, or something you can't find on our website or Instagram, don't hesitate to reach out.
Our Visual Identity
The Ella's Wool logo is trademarked, and you'll need our permission to use it.
You can assume that you have our permission if you use it to promote Ella's Wool and our products in accordance with the terms and conditions, but we still ask that you let us know when you do.
You are not allowed use the logo to indicate in any way that you formally represent Ella's Wool, to impersonate Ella's Wool or in any way mislead people about your relationship with Ella's Wool, nor as any kind of endorsement by Ella's Wool. That would require our explicit and written permission – granted in the last year unless some other timeframe is specifically given.
Ethical behavior
We expect you to present and promote Ella's Wool ethically, honestly and in ways that are consistent with our brand and our values.
We are not interested in being associated with anyone who misleads people, manipulates them into doing anything they wouldn't normally do, takes advantage of people, or represents values that are not family friendly.
That includes direct association, such as someone using dishonest methods to generate sales for Ella's Wool, and indirect association, such as Ella's Wool sharing space on a web page with links to unnecessarily violent or sexually explicit content.
As such, we reserve the right to end any partnership or collaboration without notice if we think it is necessary. There's more about this in our terms and conditions, available in your partner dashboard.
