Ella's Wool Base Layer Review - From a family in Washington

"The boys finally got a chance to wear their Ella's Wool base layer set out in the elements of winter. We took them up to Steven's Pass here in Washington for some sledding and snow time. They had worn them prior as pajamas, but this was their first time layering them with snow gear. I didn't even have a hard time getting my picky 5 years old to wear them instead of his Paw Patrol base layers because of how soft they are. The base layers kept them at the perfect temperature. They never complained about being too cold or too hot after running around and getting sweaty. Which I heard a lot of before... We have decided to have...

Winter Camping Anyone?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about camping in the winter. It might sound like a crazy idea, challenging and, well, cold, but if you love camping why not take it another step further and try it in the winter? For me, camping means time and space for my family to be with one another and bond without the distractions of work, schedules, and the technological mind-prison we all seem to live in now. They climbed up trees and played in the branches for five hours. I don’t think their feet touched the ground the entire time we were there, and it was a challenge to get them to leave their arboreal adventures when it was home time. This was an unplanned day of outdoor fun, but one I...

Baby's Hiccups - Save your BOO! for Halloween

Hiccups are a funny thing, and not just because of the cute little sound your kids make when they have them. We know babies and kids get them because they drank or ate too quickly, or because they gulped too much air in excitement, but one of my favorite piece of Scandinavian lore to share with people in the US is that when babies and kids are cold they get the hiccups. Very few people know about this secret, but this folk knowledge has been verified by scientific researchers at the Mayo Clinic and other medical institutions. We have nerves that run from our neck to our chests and when those nerves are irritated for whatever reason they make the...
